If you know Pai, you’ll know that we’re experts in sensitive skin. But did you know we offer free online skin consultations, too? That’s right – we have a team of skin coaches who are ready and waiting to help you with your skin, from advice on your routine to what might be triggering those frustrating flare-ups.
In your consultation, our sensitive skin pros will ask plenty of questions about you, your skin and your skincare – and more importantly, they’ll listen. But before you book in, how about we turn the tables and put our coaches in the spotlight? We know talking about your skin to a stranger may seem daunting, and that’s why we’ve asked our two skincare consultants some quickfire questions, so you can get to know them before your one-to-one appointment.
Read on to find out about their own skin concerns, what they do in their spare time and the Pai products they can’t live without…
Kate
Our lead skin coach Kate is 32, originally from Nottinghamshire and is now based in Berkshire. You’ll find her hosting many of our live shows, leading Pai’s consultations team and sharing advice on our social media channels.
Describe your skin type?
I've always had dry skin – I remember my mum buying me my first little blue pot of Nivea because my skin was so dry! I also have psoriasis, inherited from my dad; it started when I was 15 and has been on and off ever since, though it tends to be worse in winter. I mainly get it on my scalp, but a couple of years ago I had guttate psoriasis on my body for a few months. Hence why our Polly Plum body cream is one of my favourite products!
What made you want to become a skin coach?
I trained as a make-up artist when I was 20, where I was taught that your make-up will only look as good as your skincare and that really stuck with me. After qualifying, I started to work for a mainstream skincare brand and later I moved into organic beauty. Skincare has been a passion of mine since I developed psoriasis and over the years it became more and more of a love affair.
Best piece of skincare advice you've ever been given?
Less is more!
What does your spare time look like?
I'm very into yoga – I do this most mornings to start my day. I've also just moved to a gorgeous area in the countryside and love going for walks with my partner (we just need a dog now to go with it!).
Tipple of choice?
Gin and tonic!
Which Pai product can you not live without?
This is hard! When I have a psoriasis flare-up I can't live without Polly Plum. But something that I use every day without fail (and my skin always knows when I'm not using it) is our Back To Life hydration serum. My skin loves it.
What should someone expect from a consultation with you?
I'm very empathetic, supportive and a great listener. Most importantly though – and this goes for our consultations in general – is that it's like having a chat with a friend, only that I will share my knowledge to guide you and put you back in the driver's seat of your skin again. We will also have some fun along the way!

Holly
Sensitive skin coach Holly is 49, and lives in a sleepy seaside town in Kent. She’s worked at Pai for a whopping 13 years (and counting).
Describe your skin type?
My skin is oily/combination and is very reactive and sensitive. I had acne as a teen and in my late thirties, as well as chronic urticaria and idiopathic angioedema. Those are under control now, but I am still prone to hives and allergic reactions, so I know what it’s like to not be able to use certain products or ingredients. I also have rosacea!
Instagram vs reality: what would people find surprising about you?
How old I am – Pai has definitely saved my skin! I also have two teenage sons, one has just gone to uni.
What does your spare time look like?
Walking the dog along the beach – it’s two minutes’ walk away.
Tipple of choice?
Champagne!
Which Pai product can you not live without?
Instant Kalmer serum. It bothers me if I don’t have this on my skin at night!
What should someone expect from a consultation with you?
A chatty review of how to help their skin; it’s not a lecture. I’m not here to judge or criticise someone’s skincare routine, product choices or lifestyle. I’m hoping people finish the consultation and feel inspired and excited about having Pai in their routine.
