HELPS WITH
- Improving visible signs of ageing
- Reducing the appearance of fine lines
- Improving skin tone and elasticity
Retinol – AKA Vitamin A – is famed for reducing the signs of ageing but can irritate even the most robust skin. Enter: Retinal. A kinder, faster-working retinoid, now in a 100% natural booster that puts you in full control.
That’s Retinal – with an A
Retinoids are usually synthetic. Our Retinal is 100% natural, sourced from pink salt lakes. It speeds up cell turnover to reduce the appearance of fine lines.
Gentle enough for sensitive skin? You bet. We’ve cushioned our formula with Prebiotic Inulin, to help build the skin barrier’s resilience.
INGREDIENTS
-
Retinal
Lesser known than RETINOL – but faster-working and more gentle – RETINAL is a Retinoic Acid precursor. It’s formed during the transformation of Retinol to Retinoic Acid. It helps speed up the skin’s natural cellular turnover process, and reduce the appearance of fine lines. -
Prebiotic Inulin
An essential active for all skin types to boost skin tolerance. Extracted from chicory roots, this protective prebiotic rebalances the skin’s microbiota to form a natural defensive shield and keep skin strong and healthy.

DIRECTIONS & RECYCLING
In the evening, add 1-2 drops into your chosen moisturiser or serum and blend before applying. Alternatively, use it neat, applying 1-2 drops directly to dry cleansed skin, then follow with the rest of your routine.
We recommend adding a drop to your Bonne Nuit BioPeptide Renewal Night Cream, and always wearing a broad-spectrum SPF during the day.
Warning: This booster contains Vitamin A-related compounds, which contribute to your daily intake of Vitamin A.

FAQS
-
What is a Retinoid? + —A Retinoid is the umbrella term for Vitamin A derivatives, the most commonly-known being Retinol and Retinal (also known as Retinaldehyde). These are often given via prescription, depending on the strength of the active. Essentially they are a form of Retinoic Acid – something we naturally have in small amounts in the skin – which helps our skin cells to develop and renew.
-
Why did you choose 0.16%? + —We have chosen the optimum strength for our active to deliver the best results for sensitive skin. It may sound low, but anything over 0.3% would have to be on prescription – so don't be fooled! We use a highly effective and efficient Retinal, and you can use as much or as little as you need by dropping it into your skincare or applying directly.
-
How do I use the Retinal Booster? + —We recommend using Retinal in the evening. Apply 1-2 drops directly onto the skin after cleansing or misting, or blend with your favourite serum or moisturiser.
-
What is the difference between Retinal and Retinol? + —We promise it’s not a typo. When you apply Retinol on your skin, it converts to Retinal, before converting again to Retinoic Acid. All that work wreaks havoc on your skin, which causes irritation, especially for sensitive skin. Retinal only has one step to transform into Retinoic Acid – which means it not only works faster, but it causes less irritation and sensitivity too.
-
Can I use this product with your Rosehip Oil? + —Yes! We recommend using our Rosehip Oil on a separate night to the Retinal Booster, so your skin isn't over stimulated.
-
How does Retinal work? + —Retinal is converted by the skin into Retinoic Acid, which helps our skin cells to develop. Retinal will help to promote collagen production (meaning fewer fine lines), enhance cell turnover, and even out the skin tone.
-
Is it safe for pregnancy? + —It's widely known that consumers should be cautious when using Retinol products during pregnancy, because of concerns over exposure to high levels of Vitamin A. This is why we display the percentage on our packaging and have a warning message which states: "Contains Vitamin A-related compound, which contributes to your daily intake of Vitamin A". However, in recent years Retinal has become a more popular ingredient. Whenever an ingredient gets a lot of attention, regulatory bodies will assess the risks based on various factors, such as dosage and how it's applied. We use a low but effective level of Retinal in our product that is well within the recommended safety limits, and therefore this booster is considered safe to use during pregnancy. However, if you have any concerns please check with your doctor or midwife for further advice.
